Each year Core Technology Solutions engages local causes that encourage youth, business, and education in the area. Many businesses work with community organizations and schools to support growth, highlight opportunities, and mentor students. CTS leadership sees these causes as opportunities to build relationships, foster good will, and prepare young people for the real world.
Several recent events in the local area have garnered the support of CTS.
Encouraging Business Growth
Each year the Chapin Chamber of Commerce holds a golf tournament at Timberlake Country Club to draw awareness to the impact local businesses have in the Chapin area. CTS Director of Business Development Jeff Rogers sponsored another team this year, which also included Jun Espino, Director of Technical Services at Medac, Bobby Cone, Senior Director, Application Development at Seibels, and Will Horne, Systems Administrator at Seibels.
Rogers summed up their experience at the end of the day:
The golf tournament is a good event for us to sponsor because it provides CTS the opportunity to support our local Chamber. It also affords us the opportunity to get our clients out of the office, enjoy a bit of comradery and the game of golf. In our business, it’s easy to get stuck in the daily grind in our offices. So, events like this connects us with our business partners, allowing us the opportunity to thank them as well as to build upon those relationships that are at the heart of our business model.
Supporting Local Community Youth Programs
The Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission provides community sporting programs for children and youth each year, including Coach Pitch Baseball. It’s one of many opportunities parents have to involve their children in a fun activity within a safe, competitive environment that helps teach children the value of discipline and teamwork.
This year, CTS sponsored one of the younger teams, the Ironbirds. While player uniforms included the company name, this community investment provided for players to participate and reap the benefits of coaches, parents, and community leaders who see the value in organized sports for children in the community.
Vivian Ford, president of Core Technology Solutions, stated:
I am so proud of our employees for wanting to get involved. This was not simply an investment of financial support, but we had staff participate in the coaching of the Ironbirds. When my husband and I went out to watch the games, it was amazing to see the determination on the faces of these little ones and the good way that their coaches taught and encouraged them throughout the game. I see this kind of involvement as an investment in future generations.
Providing Tangible Resources for Graduates
Each academic year, CTS President Vivian Ford serves on the Student Improvement Council at Spring Hill High School in Chapin. Spring Hill is a newly built, innovative campus that allows students to learn in real-world environments, better preparing them for college and beyond. As a business owner in the technology industry, Mrs. Ford sees her collaboration with other business and education leaders as vital to helping students and teachers get the most out of every experience offered at the school.
One of the benefits of working closely with District 5 schools is the opportunity to select junior and senior students as summer interns at Core Technology Solutions. This June, a Chapin High School graduating senior, Josh LeClerg, will be returning for a second year of internship to conduct research that supports the technical recruiting staff.
“I have been so impressed with Josh’s work ethic, attention to detail, and his professional manner,” said Mrs. Ford. “I’m glad to have him for one more summer before he begins his college studies.”
Two more graduating students have caught the attention of CTS leadership. Brett and Jacob Rhoad, of Spring Hill High School, are recipients of sponsorship investment from CTS and other local businesses as they transition to Newberry College in the fall. Twin brothers living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Brett and Jacob will use the funds raised at the Rhoad Warriors Cup 5K last weekend to provide additional medical equipment when they arrive at college.
Core Technology Solutions counts it a privilege to invest time, talent, and financial resources in the local community. It’s not just a check. It’s staff getting involved, from the top down, because these relationships build communities, schools, and businesses, not just for this year, but for many years to come.
