The recent layoffs of more than 5,000 workers at the V.C. Summer nuclear power plant in Jenkinsville has impacted not only the state of South Carolina economically, but more specifically local families devastated by the sudden loss of income. The town of Chapin, among other nearby communities, has been particularly hit hard, with many plant workers living in and around the town.
In response, Core Technology Solutions, headquartered in Chapin, has announced that it will be assisting affected workers from V.C. Summer in two ways.
First, anyone laid off from the plant can contact CTS for resume help. Email your resume to resumes@core-ts.com and our staff will review your information, help you update your job history and objective statement, and reformat your resume as needed to get you started on the right track in your search for your next job. While CTS is an IT-only recruiting firm, we’re happy to assist anyone laid off from the nuclear plant with resume help.
Second, CTS employees have started a food drive in the lobby of their offices in Chapin. Those who would like to donate food items for V.C. Summer families needing assistance can stop by our offices at 910 Chapin Road (next to Pompeii’s Pizza) and contribute items to meet this need. Each week, CTS will deliver donated food to We Care in Chapin to aid their distribution efforts.
At this critical time in the life of our region, it is incumbent on all of us —individuals, businesses, churches, and local governments — to step up and serve the needs of those hard-working families affected by this devastating loss of jobs in our area.
