What one word defines Christmas around the world? Giving.
Giving is one of the best human expressions of goodness we can see any day of the year. Some may see it more than others, but it’s unmistakable when it is genuine.
You may even find this great quality of giving in your place of work. Many companies encourage employees to volunteer their time for good causes, as well as contribute to community organizations that help those less fortunate. Many of these initiatives are fostered by company leaders.
Core Technology Solutions seeks opportunities each year to give back to our community through financial contributions as well as through participation in events and programs that build up and support individuals and their families.
CTS president Vivian Ford sets an example through her own volunteer efforts and gets her staff involved as much as possible. Recently, the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department brought IT students to the offices of Core Technology Solutions for mock interviews. Many of the staff took the students through interview scenarios they would likely face in the coming months.
For several years, Mrs. Ford has been volunteering her time to advise students and department staff on current trends in IT hiring in order to help prepare them as they complete their studies.
Spring Hill High School in Chapin, SC is a top magnet school in the state that prepares students with advanced studies in many disciplines, including Information Technology. Each year Mrs. Ford selects a student for internship opportunities at the CTS office to give them an edge in preparing for college and careers.
Several times each year, CTS donates time, expertise, food, and Christmas gifts to We Care of Chapin, a community organization that brings hope and help to local families who otherwise would be without some of the basic necessities of daily living.
A number of the CTS staff volunteer regularly in their neighborhoods, churches, and schools to teach reading, coach sports, and mentor K-12 students in many areas of study. It’s all about the spirit of giving, from a generous heart to folks who need a helping hand.
Of course, this spirit of giving ultimately has roots in Christmas, to be sure. That baby we celebrate in the Advent season and on Christmas morning, became that greatest gift to a world needing life-giving hope. He is the Savior, Christ the Lord.
Merry Christmas from everyone at Core Technology Solutions!
